Are you familiar with the Chinook book?  Well, I had heard of it but that's about it.  I had shot an ad for  Built Green earlier this year that I knew would be in the 2010 edition.  Of course, I wanted to see how the ad and image turned out in print, so I picked one up.  It's a pretty cool book.  I'm not typically a coupon book person, but this is an eco-friendly book and actually has some usable cool coupons and ideas.  Businesses in the book have to meet specific environmental and community criteria. Well, if you see one (PCC, Barnes and Noble, and a ton of other vendors around Seattle carry them) it's worth a flip through and if you want to see the ad, it is on the inside front cover.

I just read a great article on one of my clients, James Davies of Craftsman Copper, in the winter edition of Style 1900 Magazine.  Craftsman Copper specializes in hand hammered copper lighting in the American Arts & Crafts Style.  Most of his work is done by commission and he has a national clientele.  I've had the honor of photographing chandeliers, lamps and sconces for Craftsman Copper for ads and marketing.  His work is truly amazing and beautiful.  The amount of detail to each handcrafted piece is stunning to look at.  If you are into this style or just looking for unique lighting options, check out Craftsman Copper.

Sabrina Loves Bags has added her Fall line to her website.  I've been working with Sabrina Loves Bags for the last couple of years.  When Sabrina first called me, she was looking for a photographer for images for her new website.  She has a high quality line of handbags and wanted to make sure they were visually represented accurately on her site to show off the colors and textures.  So we decided on 5 consistent product views of her bags: front, back, inside, label detail and on body.  So as new designs come out, I've been photographing them within these parameters.  The other really cool thing we decided on for Sabrina was to have some "in action" shots.  Images that give more of a sense of mood and feeling of the bags, really keeping the bag the center of attention.  She then adds these to the website as well as her marketing materials. Once or twice a year we've gotten together to do these kind of images.  Not only is it fun for me to combine both the product shots with the mood shots, Sabrina is just a rad lady to work with.  Check out her website for more images and her bags.  Here's some examples.

I was recently reconnected (through linkedin - a tool I haven't utilized enough) with the Publisher/Creative Director of the former Resonance Magazine.  Resonance was a modern music, film, literature and arts mag from 1994-2008.  I started doing shoots with them in 2005 and then was a photo editor until it's end in 2008.  Not only did I get to shoot some really interesting people and bands, like John Hodgman, Miranda July, Britt Daniel, Bonde do role, Juliette Lewis, and many others, I got to see what it takes on the other side to get those images to print.  This was such a valuable experience.   I learned so much and got to work with a really dedicated group of people.  Here are a just a few shots from some of the shoots.  I miss Resonance...

One of my client's, Model Remodel, has a project featured in Built Green's October newsletter and as a case study on the site.  I photographed the finished project for MRM earlier this year and some of those photos are in the article.  If you are not familiar with BuiltGreen, they are a non-profit organization promoting environmentally friendly home building methods and practices and sustainable development.  Interesting site with a lot of great info on it!

Man, do I have a cool job.  One of the coolest parts of what I do involves all the different people I meet and work with.  I recently finished up a project with the Samarya Center.  The Samarya Center is a Seattle based 501c3 non-profit yoga studio and wellness center.  The goal of the project, which spanned a few months, was to update the Center's image base for their website, newsletters, etc.  They wanted the pictures to reflect their community based outlook and celebrating the center's diversity and overall feel of what they do.  I put together a package of images for them ranging from individual shots and group classes, images around the center, and updated staff photos.  These shoots were great!  Everyone I photographed was so into it and excited to be a part of promoting the center.  It was quite inspiring.  Here's a few images from the shoots:

I was hoping to post work with a certain recent client, but their new website will be up and running later today, so in the meantime I'll tell you about this:

I have a series of images up at a local establishment, The Leary Traveler.  They are located at 4353 Leary Way in Ballard.  Cool little pub that opened about a year ago.  If you're in the neighborhood, stop in and check out the prints and have a pint or a bite to eat.  The images will be up through Oct 25th.
